Wrestling Roundup: February 1

The first wrestling action of February 2023 took place Wednesday around the state.   In the Southwest 10 Conference, White Pigeon hosted a quad Wednesday featuring Centreville, Comstock, and Hartford.

The Chiefs and Huskies entered the final league matches of the season tied at 8-0 atop the conference standings.  White Pigeon would beat Hartford 51-28 and shut out the Colts 84-0, giving WP the league title and a perfect 10-0 conference record.

Against Hartford, the Chiefs got wins from Chaz Underwood, Mazzy Lambert (void), Gavin McGrady, Jesse Fielis, Evan Rudloff, Luke Hinkson, Dace Kochel, Caleb Lane, and Nate Irwin.

Against the Colts, non-void victories came for WP from Drew Johnson, Gavin McGrady, Jesse Fielis, Cole Jackson, Evan Rudloff, Caleb Lane, Norberto Monroy, Nate Irwin, Landon Peterson, and Chaz Underwood.

Centreville finished 5-4 in league matches as they lost a competitive match Wednesday to Hartford 45-36, but beat Comstock 58-11.  Bulldog wins against the Huskies came from Payton Balle, Rockne Hamilton (void), Lukas Brooks, Owen Taylor, Gavin Bunning, and Jamal Noble.

Against Comstock, the Centreville wins non-void were by DeAndre Stout, Noah Brooks, Lukas Brooks, Owen Taylor, Ariana Evans, Gavin Bunning, Aiden Kohlhoff, and Payton Balle.

In the Wolverine Conference, Sturgis was defeated in two matches; 53-18 against Otsego and 83-0 by Plainwell.  Against the Bulldogs, the Trojans had wins from Kaiden Waldron, Ismael Cruz, and Aaron Castro.

Three Rivers hosted a non-conference quad Wednesday and picked up a 67-12 win against Portage Northern and 66-15 victory over Buchanan.  Against the Huskies, the Wildcat winners were Clinton Kaiser, Jak Monroe, Talan Flowers, Carter Hensley, Ayden Keller, Landon Moreland, Jeremiah Detwiler, Alex Bryant, Jaxon Smith, Lloyd Ruesink, and Jacob Reynolds.  Individual results from the Buchanan match were not available.
