The Lawton Invitational provided White Pigeon’s wrestling team with plenty of tough matches that will only help the Chiefs as the season chugs along.
Going 2-3 on the day, White Pigeon lost to Lawton 51-24 and state power Hesperia’s B squad 60-18 in the opening rounds. A 54-4 win over Paw Paw and a 33-29 decision against Hartford got things back on track. The Chiefs dipped below .500 for the day with a defeat vs. Plainwell on a fifth tiebreaker.
Jaime Rangel (145 pounds) and Devin Hoover (215) finished the day with 4-1 records and two pins apiece. Jordan Lucas (140), Shaun Harmon (152) both claimed three pins to finish 3-2.
