The Wolverine Conference has released their season summaries for the fall 2022 sports season for all sports except for football, which will be available next week. From St. Joseph County, both Sturgis and Three Rivers were solidly represented in the all-conference selections.
In volleyball, getting first team honors were Sturgis’ Addison Nettleman and TR’s Jenna Southland. On the second team from the Trojans were Harlie Blum and Megan Hecht. The Wildcats had Gabby Charvat on the second team and Aliza Munro got honorable mention. Additionally, Sturgis head coach Tracy Sterling earned coach of the year recognition.
In cross country, getting all-conference was Three Rivers’ Sulley Zietlow and Jennifer Hernandez; plus Sturgis’ Berkley Holtz and Sydney Bir.
For boys soccer, on the first team for the Trojans were Braulio Galvan, Brandon Kelly, and Steve Gonzalez. Second team Trojans were Kevin Gonzalez and Gavyn Moore with honorable mention for Lucca Eduardo de Souza. The Wildcats had second team honors for Christian Selent and Elliott Weed, plus honorable mention for Ryan Lubieniecki.
In girls golf, Sturgis had all-conference honors for Madison Webb and Citori Kosmerick, plus honorable mention for Aspen Hyska and Hannah Falkenstein.
And for boys tennis, Sturgis had the #1 and #2 singles champs in Walter Ebert and George Ebert, as well as second place #2 doubles pair Preston Gump/Drake Harker and #4 doubles pair Ian Earl and Ian Golden. Third place for Sturgis tennis were Luke Frost/Christian Perry (#1 doubles) and Adam Baker/George Bucklin (#3 doubles). Trojans coach George Earl also snagged the league’s coach of the year. TR had the #3 singles runner-up Jack Miller plus third place finishers Brady Minnard (#1 singles) and Josh Moore (#4 singles).
