Three Rivers’ volleyball team emerged as the tournament champion in a loaded field Saturday at Coldwater. The Wildcats beat Mendon in the semifinals and edged Galesburg-Augusta 28-26, 26-25 in the championship match.
Hannah Landis ended the day with a team-high 45 digs and added 31 kills and four aces. Molly Hawkins finished with 32 digs and four assists, Carly Nichols posted 29 kills and 32 digs, Kalie Cole passed out 91 assists, Teagan Reeves smashed 51 kills and registered five aces and 30 digs, and Morgan Roderick finished with 10 kills.
The Wildcats improved to 33-7-1.
“It was nice to bring home another championship,” Three Rivers coach Brandy Stalhood said. “We did have some ups and downs and struggled to get into a rhythm, but got it together when it mattered.”
Three Rivers split with Onstead and beat Chelsea and Marshall in pool play before topping Bronson 17-25, 25-22, 25-12 in the quarterfinals.
Mendon, ranked No. 1 in Class C, defeated Marshall, Galesburg-Augusta and Onstead in pool play and Chelsea 25-16, 25-23 in the quarters.
Brooke Howard posted 40 digs, seven aces, nine blocks and 39 kills for the Hornets. Alexis Russell added 31 kills and six aces. Loryn Baughman finished with 94 assists, Jordan VanOss registered 25 kills and 43 digs and Danielle Parsons had 29 digs.
