Three Rivers travels north to take on Wolverine Conference foe Plainwell Friday in a critical league clash for both football teams. The Wildcats are coming off a 60-0 home trouncing of Comstock and Plainwell blanked Coloma 45-0 to open the season.
Injury Report
Three Rivers coach J.J. Wagner said all hands are deck after a clean opener last Thursday.
“Overall, we’re pretty healthy and we’ve had a good week of practice,” he added.
Scouting Plainwell
Jacob Geter rushed for four touchdowns against Coloma, including scoring runs of 78 and 68 yards, and finished with 184 yards on just nine attempts (20.4 per carry). Ryan Britton added nearly 100 yards and a TD on 19 takes.
“Plainwell will play a physical brand of football,” Wagner said. “It will be important for us to match their physicality in all phases. They want to run the ball, control time of possession and play solid defense.”
Keys for a Three Rivers win
“Offensively we need to execute and avoid mistakes and penalties,” Wagner said. “Defensively we need to be physical and execute our assignments. Our seniors have played in some big games, and I think that has had a big influence on our younger guys. We’re seeing a lot of improvement and the kids seem pretty focused on playing well.”
