Seniors Rachel Brock and Bethany Hagner walked off their home court for the final time on a high note after White Pigeon’s volleyball team bested Centreville 25-19, 25-22, 25-12 on senior night.
Hagner led the team with 14 kills and added nine digs. Brock served five aces and contributed eight digs. The Chiefs, which finished the St. Joseph Valley League schedule 2-4, eventually wore the Bulldogs down.
“It was a nice conference win for us,” White Pigeon coach Tony Hooley said. “Centreville is a good team and getting better. Their front line made things difficult for our hitters, especially early in the match, but we kept attacking aggressively, tooling some blocks and looking to make some timely tips into open areas.
“We also served tough tonight, committing only two errors. Our two seniors definitely put the team on their backs tonight. Rachel Brock was a beast at the service line and Bethany Hagner was pounding it from the left side.”

Skyler DeMeyer posted 21 assists and 19 digs for the Chiefs.
The Bulldogs’ Mattie Kirby registered two aces, seven kills and 12 digs and Bailee May netted five kills, 11 digs and a block. Madison Hunter finished with 15 assists.
“We got outplayed tonight,” Centreville coach Melissa Gales said. “Statistically we did well. We just didn’t show up with the heart and desire that we should have this part of the season.”
