Volleyball Roundup: October 25-27

October 28, 2022 By Jordan Slocum

Constantine hosted White Pigeon, Marcellus, and Berrien Springs Thursday in a volleyball quad to close out the regular season.  The Falcons won all three matches on their home court, beating the Chiefs 25-16, 25-11; the Wildcats 25-11, 25-13; and the Shamrocks 25-15, 25-12.

White Pigeon took second place on the day as they edged Marcellus 22-25, 25-17, 15-13; and beat Berrien Springs 21-25, 25-22, 18-16.

“Everything was a mental battle this evening,” said Chiefs coach Natalie Saunders.  “Going three games with both Marcellus and Berrien Springs gassed us for Constantine. All evening we didn’t play to our potential. I felt like we were going through the motions.”

“We lost our senior captain setter this past Saturday, Jaylee McBride to a possible ACL tear (3rd time),” added Saunders.  “Hard to make changes at the end of the season like that but I’m very proud of our freshman JV setter who we recently moved up, Kenlee Schrader. She is filling some “big shoes” and did a lot of good things for us tonight.

WP sits at 11-14-3 overall and Constantine at 25-14-4.  The Falcons host the Chiefs in the first round of district play Monday.

“We know what (Constantine) are capable of, now we just need to do our part and show up and play to our potential this time around.,” said Saunders.
