A solid season for Vicksburg baseball came to an end Wednesday with a 2-0 loss to Marshall in the regional semifinal at Harper Creek. The pitcher’s duel saw only six total hits between the two squads.
Bulldog starter Cole Gebben allowed two hits, two earned runs, and six walks over four innings with seven strikeouts. Brendan Monroe pitched the final two innings in relief perfect.
Trenton Fuller tossed a gem for the Redhawks, allowing only four hits and no walks over the complete game shutout. The efficient outing saw only 77 pitches and zero walks.
The Marshall runs came in the first and fourth innings with Gavin Spence getting a double and single with a run and RBI. Vicksburg’s Jacob Conklin had a double.
The Bulldogs finish their season at 28-14. The Redhawks improve to 24-9 and head to Coldwater Saturday for a 10 a.m. regional final against Grand Rapids South Christian.
