A few area teams competed Monday in their final track and field action prior to regional meets later this week. For Centreville, they were both the boys and girls team champion in Monday’s 10-team Comstock Invitational. The Bulldog boys tallied a 142 team score with the girls logging a 139 mark.
Dylan Coney picked up three gold medals and a silver, taking the top times in the 100m and 200m dashes, a first on the 4×200 relay team, and a second in the long jump. Joshua and Jacob Falkenstein both were on the top 4×200 and 4×400 relays, also joined by Tyler Swanwick on both and Ethan Miller on the 4×400. Jade Kuhbander had two golds for the Centreville girls, taking the 400m and on the 4×200 relay with Izzabella Kessler, Gabrielle Bowen, and Zoe Miller. Isabella Kangas also grabbed gold for Centreville in the high jump.
Constantine secured the SAC Valley boys division title and also grabbed a girls win in a home dual Monday against Hackett Catholic Prep. The Falcons won the boys match 112-20 and the girls contest 81-45. Multi-event winners for the boys include Ethan Glick (1600m, 3200m, 4×800), Bennett VandenBerg (shot put, discus), Dean Topolski (400m, 4×200), and Julian Hawthorne (long jump, 4×800). Taking multiple girls events were Lilly Stears (shot put, discus), Caterina Thelen (pole vault, 100m hurdles), and Kathryn Hochstetler (800m, 1600m).
Colon hosted six other teams in a regional tune up event Monday with Bronson claiming the boys team title and Marcellus winning for girls. The Magi took second for girls with their 132 mark only behind Marcellus’ 202. The Colon boys scored 83, placing fourth behind Marcellus (98), Tekonsha (138), and Bronson (173).
Noemi Cester earned three first-place finishes for the Magi girls with the best 1600m and 3200m marks, plus first in the 4×800 relay with Macey Burgess, Megann Mullins, and Azealia Lafler. Mullins also was first individually in the 400m and Sydney Taylor picked up gold in both the 100m and 200m. Alexander Stoll had four golds for the Colon boys, taking the 100m dash, 110m hurdles, 300m hurdles, and as part of the 4×400 relay with Kodey Dovey, Jose Cubillo-Mora, and Owen Wilson. Dovey also snagged first individually in the 800m.
