The Three Rivers track and field program kicked off the 2023 spring schedule this week in the Grand Valley State University Laker Challenge with a boys event Wednesday and a girls event Thursday.
“This meet was full of quality competition with 13 Division 1 schools and 18 Division 2 schools represented.,” noted TR coach James Phillips.
Senior Kylin Griffin came away with a gold medal in the girls event Thursday, placing first in the 400 meter race at 59.61. Griffin also placed 15th in the 200 meter. TR also saw Annabelle Gil medal with a seventh place time of 10.09 in the 60m hurdle. She had set a personal record of 10.04 in the preliminary.
The top boys runner was Jeremiah Marzett with a 12th in the 200 meter dash at 23.95 and a 20th in the 60 meter dash at 7.41. In the high jump, Heston Saunders and Kyler Copenhaver both tied for 14th at 5’4”. Lucas Salinas was fifth in his shot put flight at 36’7”.
