Hackett Catholic continued their drive for a third-consecutive SAC boys soccer title Wednesday with a 5-0 home win over Kalamazoo Christian.
The third-ranked Irish had control from the very start, getting nine shots-on-goal in the first half with none for the Comets. Hackett’s first half goals came via Charlie Prom 12′, John Burhans 28′, and Stephen Hough 35′. Second half goals were by Andrew Salisbury 51′ and Logan Flynn 58′.
K-Christian was able to get some pressure in the second half, but their three shots-on-goal were turned away as Breyton Franklin and Carson Cook combined for a clean sheet. Zach Shires unofficially had 12 saves in a busy night for the Comets.
Hackett improves to 5-3 overall and 2-0 within league play. They return to action next Wednesday with a trip to fifth-ranked Adrian Lenawee Christian, then host Delton Kellogg next Thursday in SAC play.
K-Christian falls to 3-6-1 and 1-1 in the SAC. They have a short turnaround with a Thursday trip to Paw Paw, with their next SAC match at home Monday versus Coloma.
