Sturgis’ boys swimming and diving team won the Loy Norrix Invitational Saturday with 373 points, edging runner-up Portage Northern (363). Wayland was third with 323 and Loy Norrix was fourth with 314.
Hunter Stanke placed first in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:02.27 and claimed the top spot in the 100 backstroke (1:03.29) for the Trojans’ two victories.
Eight second-place performances and a pair of thirds put the Trojans over the top.
The 200 medley relay (1:49.11), the 200 free relay and the 400 free relay (1:36.65) turned in runner-up times, Brandon Jones was second in the 200 free (1:59.63) and the 500 free (5:21.45) and Grant Brown was runner-up in 100 free (52.87).
Kris Gibbs posted 298.80 points for second in diving and Tetzloff earned second place in the 100 backstroke (1:01.48).
“It was a great win for the boys they did an excellent job swimming [Saturday] and again we had some really good time drops from all the swimmers,” Sturgis coach Andy Feyes said. “I believe that everyone that swam or dove had personal best times in at least one of their events.”
The Trojans host the A&K Relays, their first home meet of the season, Tuesday at 6 p.m.
