Sturgis’ boys swimming and diving team lost, 122-61, Thursday at Battle Creek Lakeview.
The defeat drops the Trojans to 1-2 overall this year.
“Lakeview is just a much deeper team and that is hard to overcome,” Sturgis coach Andy Feyes said. “We did, howerver, have some really good time drops.”
Nathan Stemen registered a season-best time in the 200-yard freestyle of 1:58.92, while Brandon Jones and Michael Maynard also clocked their fastest times of the year in the same event at 2:00.22 and 2:06.30, respectively.
Jones and Maynard trimmed time of their season bests in the 500 free as well, with Jones finishing in 5:25.55 and Maynard coming in at 5:56.72. Hunter Stanke won the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.41 for Sturgis, which is back in action Saturday at the Holland Christian Invitational.
