Sturgis went to Centreville Tuesday and collected a 37-20 nonconference victory in girls basketball, led by junior Rachel Anderson’s 19 points.
Senior Marissa Parker had nine points, three steals, three assists and three rebounds, and sophomore Nicolette Nelson finished with seven points, three steals and nine boards for the Trojans, which are now 3-8 overall.
The Bulldogs fell to 1-9 after getting into a 21-10 halftime hole. Mattie Kirby and Bailee May each posted four points to lead Centreville. Faith Morell added four rebounds and two points, Becky Clementz had two assists and two points, Sam Lewis chipped in two points, Madison Hunter scored two points, Jenna Beeker finished with two points and May produced a pair of steals.
Madeline Mercer registered two steals, three assists and four rebounds for Sturgis, with Gretchen Inman adding a pair of steals and five rebounds, Goretti Alfaro contributing two points, a steal and a block, and Jessica Cline posting a steal, an assist and a rebound.
