RICHLAND — The Sturgis High School girls golf team kicked off the 2013 season Wednesday at the Gull Lake Invitational and finished 11th overall with a combined stroke total of 464. Kalamazoo Hackett Catholic Central posted a 348 for first place in the 15-team tournament, followed by St. Joseph (368) and Battle Creek Lakeview (369).
Taylor Clark carded a 106 to pace the Trojans and Allison Harker turned in a career-best 112. First-year player Jessica Griffieon shot 120, Taylor Williams finished with a 126 and rookie Allison Herman posted a 140 total.
“I was very pleased with the results in our first invitational,” Sturgis coach Kenneth Schau said. “We are still a young team and young program.”
Sturgis tees off again at the Lady Trojan Invitational Friday at Klinger Lake Country Club.
