MHSAA Bowling team regionals took place Friday with Sturgis competing in Regional #10 hosted by Vicksburg at Continental Lanes in Kalamazoo. In the boys regional, the Trojans finished third, earning a trip to the state finals for the eighth time in the program’s 12-year history.
“Super proud of these kids and the work they have put in this season and what is still to come,” said coach Scott Spahr.

Tecumseh had the top total score at 3679, followed by Niles at 3489 and Sturgis at 3320. Brayden Smoker had a 399 series with a 206 and 193. Caleb Henson-Bohlen had a 202 game and Garrett Liston a 196. The boys team advances to the Division 2 finals next weekend at Century Bowl in Waterford.
The Trojan girls just missed the cut, placing fourth. Marshall was first at 2798, followed by Tecumseh at 2751. Coldwater was third at 2641, edging Sturgis by 13 pins at 2628.
“The girls team will return in its entirety with a years’ experience under their belts and a desire to make that next step,” said Spahr.
Lydia Boland had a 342 series on a 187 and 155. Donna Henson-Bohlen had a 330 series on a 146 and 184.
Both the Sturgis boys and girls complete again Saturday at Continental Lanes in the individual regionals.
