Sturgis bowling earned Wolverine Conference wins Monday against Edwardsburg with a 25-5 boys victory and 26.5-3.5 girls victory.
Brayden Smoker had the top boys scores for the Trojans with a 236 and 185 for a 421 series. Owen Brewer had a 181 game. The Sturgis girls had a 183 game by Kortnie Matz and 171 by Lydia Boland.
“Teams put in the work tonight,” said coach Scott Spahr. “Not always the prettiest but effective. Nice job by the JV with a great first baker game.”
“Ladies are just a couple small things away from completely breaking out,” Spahr continued. “Great to see. Gents, a bit of a struggle overall but got through it with the W and a career (so far) night (236, 421) by Brayden Smoker. Things are looking quite positive.”
The Sturgis boys are 5-1 atop the Wolverine Conference standings, a half-match ahead of 4-1 Niles. The Trojan girls are 5-1, only behind 5-0 Three Rivers. The Wolverine regular season slate ends against Vicksburg Tuesday at Airway Lanes in Kalamazoo.
