Sturgis bowling earned two important Wolverine Conference wins on Friday against Otsego. The Trojan girls were 22-8 victors while the boys secured a 26-4 win.
“The boys had a good night and showed the signs of coming together we have been hoping to see,” said Sturgis coach Scott Spahr. “The girls stumbled a bit, but the process continues to work and they will move on from this. Proud of their resilience and the continuing work effort and positive attitude.”
The top girls series for Sturgis was Kortney Matz at 324, followed by 282 from Kami Kimes and 281 from Lydia Boland. Matz had the best single game at 167. The best boys series was Brayden Smoker at 365 with Owen Brewer at 348. Andrew Matz had the best game for Sturgis at 198.
In the league standings, the Sturgis boys are tied for the lead with Niles and Three Rivers at 3-1. The girls are unbeaten at 4-0 with TR at 3-0. The Trojans host the sixth Trojan Invitational at 9 a.m. Sunday at Strike Zone.
