Sturgis and Three Rivers battled Tuesday in bowling with positioning at the top of the Wolverine Conference on the line. The Trojan boys won 19.5-10.5 in the 100th career win for coach Rick Freske. The Wildcat girls were 17-13 victors.
The Sturgis boys top game came from Caleb Henson-Bohlen with a 238. Owen Brewer had a 200. TR’s best came from Devin Svoboda at 215. The Trojans second singles game was a 924 total, their best of the season.
The girls match saw the Wildcats top games from Tayler Mohney with a 228 and 215. Lydia Boland had Sturgis’s best at 179, while Kami Kimes had a career best 172 game and 312 series. Even in defeat, the Trojan girls had a 802 singles game for their first 800+ tally since 2017-18.
In the Wolverine Conference boys standings, Sturgis and Niles are tied for the lead at 4-1 with the Wildcats at 3-2. In the girls standings, TR are unbeaten atop the standings at 5-0 with the Trojans at 4-1.
Up next, TR faces Portage Northern Saturday at South Lanes. The Sturgis boys have the Trojan Invitation Sunday at Strike Zone with both teams in action Monday versus Edwardsburg.
