Sturgis three-sport star Chance Stewart, who is committed to play quarterback at Western Michigan University next season, told JoeInsider.com Sunday that he’ll finish his senior season and play basketball and baseball for the Trojans.
That was his plan going into this year. However, Broncos first-year head coach P.J. Fleck wanted Stewart on campus for spring practices, which would have required a January enrollment. Stewart was on the fence for months and worked to square away his academics for an early departure. In the end he decided there were more high school memories to make. The news surely will be well received by Sturgis fans.
David Drew, Western beat writer for MLive and the Kalamazoo Gazette, talked to Fleck recently about the quarterback position as the season winds down and the focus shifts to 2014.
