On Monday, Sturgis boys soccer played Vicksburg to a 3-3 draw. Trojan goals were tallied by Edwin Romero, Raul Ruiz, and Alejandro Nieves. Steve Gonzalez and Christian Luna added assists. The tie put Sturgis at 4-4-1 overall and the Bulldogs at 10-2-2.
As far the Wolverine Conference standings, the Trojans sit fourth at 2-1-1 but are right in the mix. The top of the league has Plainwell and Edwardsburg (both 3-0-1), then Vicksburg at 2-0-2. Sturgis hosts Allegan Wednesday and the Bulldogs head to Otsego.
Three Rivers improved to 2-2 in the Wolverine Monday with a 1-0 victory against Otsego, dropping the Bulldogs to 1-3 in league and 3-7 overall. Now 4-7 overall, the Wildcats travel to Paw Paw Wednesday.
Both Sturgis and Three Rivers also played on Saturday. The Trojans fell 4-0 in a match at Coldwater. At the Adrian tournament, the Wildcats lost 3-2 to Adrian and fell 3-2 to Clinton.
Elsewhere, the young Constantine squad dropped a 3-1 result to Berrien Springs Monday. Junior James Hendrix had the Falcon goal and goalkeeper Austin Forrester made 11 saves.
“Falcons continue to improve with our game, young players are starting to come together and dial in our passes,” said coach Ron Hulett. “Still more work to do to shut down opponents opportunities.”
Monday’s result put Constantine at 0-9-1 and the Shamrocks at 3-4-1. The Falcons host Schoolcraft Wednesday and Berrien Springs hosts South Haven Tuesday.
