After finishing second to Climax-Scotts in the SCAA West Division, Colon’s baseball team heads into 2014 with a young lineup. Of the five returning letterwinners, only two are seniors.
“We will be a very young team this year, with many underclassmen seeing significant playing time,” coach Matt Swanwick said.
Junior Ronny Moyer leads a pitching staff that includes senior Tyler Schipper, sophomore Brandon Hinkley, freshman Daniel Alva, freshman Chase Tomlinson, sophomore Brett Prell and sophomore Gabe Keely.
Keely, Smolarz and Tomlinson are expected to hold down the outfield positions, while Hinkley and Alva will “anchor our infield,” Swanwick said.
Sophomore Chris Frame, junior Bailey Tyler and senior Brandon Broker will be behind the plate this season for the Magi.
