Schoolcraft saw strong pitching and defense Tuesday as they swept defending Division 4 state champion Centreville with 6-0 and 7-3 home wins. The Eagles now have wins over two of last year’s state champs, as they also defeated D3 champ Coloma on Saturday. Prior to Tuesday, the Bulldog offense had scored a blistering 97 runs in seven games.
The Eagle bats started strong with three runs and two walks for three runs in the first inning. Katie Parker smacked a two RBI double to begin the scoring. In the second inning, Kelby Goldschmeding crushed a three-run home run for a 6-0 Schoolcraft lead. The score stayed at 6-0 for the rest the game as Mckenzie Sheteron found her rhythm in relief for Centreville.
Mikayla Meade pitched a complete game shutout for Schoolcraft, going perfect in the first three innings. Meade scattered five hits with no walks and clean fielding behind her. Goldschmeding had four total RBI on two hits. Danielle Blyly scored twice and Parker scored twice on two hits.

Schoolcraft took the lead in the first as Kayla Onken brought home Parker with a RBI single. The Eagles whacked two homers in the third inning with a two-run Parker bomb and a solo smack for Goldschmeding. Kelby hit her third homer of the day on a two-run dinger in the fifth inning, giving her seven RBI between Tuesday’s games. Adrienne Rosey earned a complete game win with eight strikeouts and added three singles offensively.
Centreville finally scored via their own homers. Joanna Larsen had a solo shot in the fourth inning and Makenzi Troyer slammed a two-run homer in the sixth.

The Bulldogs fall to 6-3 with the defeats and return to action at Bloomingdale Thursday. Schoolcraft moves to 7-2 and hosts Hackett Catholic Thursday.
