
Gabi Saxman (#30) led Schoolcraft with 22 points, going 10-13 at the foul line.
Schoolcraft won at home Saturday 57-39 against Hackett Catholic, keeping the unbeaten season alive and securing the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SAC) Valley division crown. The win also completes the first regular season sweep for the Eagles over the Irish since the 2014-15 campaign.
The game began back-and-forth with Hackett starting ahead 8-3. Schoolcraft finished the first quarter on a 10-3 run for a 13-11 lead at the end of the first.
The Eagles would remain ahead the rest of the way, building the advantage to ten by halftime, 29-19. Sophomore guard Gabi Saxman was stellar, scoring 13 of her team’s 16 second quarter points. Schoolcraft extended the lead to 21 by the end of the third quarter.
Saxman finished with 22, roughly double her per-game average. She also was a strong 10-13 at the free throw line. Lydia Goble added 15, 13 of which came in the second half. Hackett’s Sydney Preston scored 21.
The Eagles lock up the SAC Valley at 10-0 and move to 17-0 overall. Up next, they travel to Galesburg-Augusta Friday. From there, Watervliet and Constantine are the only teams in the way of an unbeaten regular season.
Hackett falls to 10-6 overall, second in the SAC Valley at 7-3. They travel to Grand Rapids Tuesday to meet Covenant Christian. After that, the Irish host Kalamazoo Christian (third in the Valley) Friday, which can be heard live via JoeInsider.com.
