Three players reached double figures for Schoolcraft’s boys basketball team Friday in a 52-42 Kalamazoo Valley Association win at Constantine.
Caleb Proksch dumped in 19 points for Schoolcraft, with Kyle Santman (13) and Trevor Stoddard (13) on his heels. It was Stoddard’s six points in the first quarter that propelled the Eagles (7-3, 5-2) to a 16-3 lead early on.
“Schoolcraft’s defensive pressure with their guards, although it didn’t create many turnovers (10), did a nice job at not allowing us to run our offense and was the difference in the game,” Constantine coach Chuck Frisbie said. “[I’m] happy with the way we remained in the game after a bad start.”
The Falcons (0-7, 0-6) were 16-for-39 from the field, including 6-for-19 from 3-point land. Cody Ley scored 14 points and pulled down 11 rebounds (eight defensive) for the home team, while Joey Steiner finished with seven points, Luhk Mullendore had nine points and five boards and Jon Doering ended the evening with five points and six rebounds.
Anthony Bontrager and Austin Kinser each knocked down a 3-pointer and Perry White added a point to round out Constantine’s scorers.
