Just a step behind throughout Tuesday’s home SCAA contest against Bellevue, the Burr Oak girls basketball team couldn’t close the gap in a 48-41 defeat.
Hannah Root scored nine of her team-high 12 points in the third quarter for the Bobcats, which trailed 33-29 heading into the fourth.
Jade Lown registered six of her eight points in the final frame, Chelsey Boyd finished with seven points and Michaela Ultz scored six. Jade Summey chipped in three points in the loss, which puts Burr Oak at 5-11 overall and 2-10 in the league.
“It was a close game throughout,” Burr Oak coach Jennifer Sutton said. “We played very well defensively. There were some errors in the last half of the fourth [quarter] that just cut us short of the win. Now [we’re] focusing on Calhoun Christian on Thursday.
