Three Rivers has dominated our Safety Glasses USA Softball Player of the Week awards this season after pretty much dominating nearly every opponent the squad has faced this season.
At 35-3 overall heading into district play, the Wildcats have added a lot of hardware to the trophy case and has seen team and individual records set. This past week, Three Rivers claimed its first league title in school history after sweeping Paw Paw to go 18-0 in the Wolverine Conference. After that, the Wildcats beat Colon 20-0 and then topped Constantine 3-1 in the St. Joseph County Tournament championship game.
Three Rivers outscored opponents 73-3 last week, and every player on the team played a critical role. But we’d like to recognize Halle Carpenter as the Safety Glasses USA Softball Player of the Week for her significant contributions.
Carpenter, a senior infielder, had eight hits, including three doubles) and 9 RBI in that five-game stretch last week to help the Wildcats finish the regular season strong. She has 50 hits, a team-high 18 doubles, 38 RBI and has scored 45 runs this season. Carpenter has a .400 batting average and a 1.055 on-base percentage.
