The perfect season for the Edwardsburg Eddies had a disappointing conclusion on Monday night. They fell at the hands of the, also perfect, Hamilton Hawkeyes.
Edwardsburg went into the game having swept through districts and knocking out Three Rivers in the district championship. This contest was a rematch of the Regional Championship game last season, which the Hawkeyes also won.
The Eddies were led by Kaitlyn Zarycki who poured in 14 points on 3/9 shooting. Claire Bartz was 5/6 with 10 points. Abbey Krugh contributed 5 points in the 60-39 loss.
The gameplan was simple, but sound for Hamilton. Close the paint. Don’t allow the Eddies to drive and make the easy buckets. They had the personnel to do it too as the Hawkeyes had more height and size at every position compared to the Eddies.
The 23-1 Edwardsburg Eddies have much to be proud of this season. They won the Wolverine Conference outright. They won the district championship. They had a perfect regular season. Zarycki broke school records for scoring, and the seniors left their mark on the program. Congratulations to seniors Kaitlyn Zarycki, Bailey Anson, Chloe Bartz, and Madison Robinson on a fantastic career for the Lady Eddies.
