The Portage Muskies hockey co-op fell to Muskegon Mona Shores 7-3 in Wednesday’s regional semifinal at Wings West.
Portage hung with the Saliors with tied scores of 1-1 and 2-2 after the first two periods. However, a big five-goal third period pushed Mona Shores to victory. Ryan Jaros scored all three Muskies goals.
With the defeat, the first year of the co-op closes with a 5-10 record. The Sailors (14-2-1) face Byron Center in the regional final Saturday at 1 p.m. ET.
The lone SCHSHL South division team remaining in the MHSAA field are the Kalamazoo Eagles, who face the Mid Michigan Marauders in their regional semi Thursday at Munn Arena.
