Senior middle hitter Teagan Reeves, who has verbally committed to play for Western Michigan University next year, will miss Wednesday’s Class B district semifinal match against Edwardsburg.
Reeves reached 1,000 career kills in mid-October and helped the Wildcats claim their second consecutive Wolverine Conference championship this past weekend. Reeves injured her left knee at the league tournament, which was hosted by Three Rivers, in the championship match against Vicksburg.
“I was jump serving and came down wrong,” Reeves told JoeInsider.com. “I caught my toe on the floor before I jumped and it kind of threw me off balance. As of right now I’m not sure how serious anything is.”
Reeves is scheduled for an MRI Wednesday evening.
Three Rivers defeated Edwardsburg handily in the quarterfinals of the Sturgis Invitational back on Oct. 12. The Wildcats also beat the Eddies three sets to none in a closely contested match on Sept. 26 at Three Rivers. Reeves put up 16 kills, six blocks and 14 digs in that match — leading the team or tying for the lead in each statistical category.
The Wildcats had a first-round bye. The winner of Wednesday’s match takes on the winner of the Coldwater-Vicksburg match in the district finals.
