Beating up on Delton-Kellogg Thursday by scores of 18-8 and 15-5, the Constantine varsity softball team improved to 5-0.
Mercedes Cole earned the Game 1 win with a 14-strikeout effort. She allowed only four hits and two earned runs. She got a ton of support from her teammates, who piled up 13 hits, including her own double and triple and 2 RBI.
Kiara Price hit a grand slam home run for 4 RBI to go with a double.
Brianna Herrick (one double), Piper Ousley and Raigan Dumm each had two hits. Kim Maddox produced a single and 2 RBI, Macey Tulley singled and Trasandra Ragsdale had a hit and 2 RBI. Dumm and Bailey Rodewald also drove in runs.
In Game 2, Emily Mallo worked through six innings and earned the win by scattering eight hits and allowing just one earned run. She struck out eight and did not walk a Delton batter.
Cole was big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with a double and a home run for 4 RBI. Jos Derda and Rodewald recorded two hits, and Tulley, Maddox, Patten, Ragsdale, Mallo (double) and Price had one each.
Derda also drove in four runs, while Mallo and Rodewald finished with 2 RBI. Herrick, Patten and Price also drove in runs.
