The Wolverine Conference has been very difficult for the Tigers football team to play as of late. Allegan has been a part of the conference since 1952, the year of its inception. The last time the Tigers had a winning season was 2010 when they went 7-3 and lost in the pre-districts to Paw Paw. Since 2010 the Tigers have only had one season with at least 4 wins.
The Eddies are looking to keep their winning ways going. They have run their winning streak to 21 games and have the mind to make it 22 this Friday. Edwardsburg beat the Three Rivers Wildcats in a mud-fest last Friday night, 50-7. The Eddies are 5-2 against the Tigers. In 2018, Edwardsburg won the season opener 55-0. The last time the Eddies lost to Allegan was in 1983 when they fell 20-13.
The big game to talk about might not be taking place until week 9 of the regular season when the 7-0 Eddies travel north to take on the currently undefeated Paw Paw Redskins. It will be a hotly contested battle between the No 1 team in Division 4 (Paw Paw) vs the No. 5 ranked team in Division 3 (Edwardsburg). However, both teams have to survive this week’s trap games.
