On Friday night the Sturgis Trojans (1-1) will make the 45-minute drive East to Edwardsburg to take on the 2-0 Eddies for a Wolverine Conference game.
Sturgis started off the year against the Vicksburg Bulldogs. The Bulldogs pounded the Trojans 42-0. The following week the Trojans reenacted that game with a 41-0 thumping of South Haven. A few keys to victory for Sturgis will be to start fast, score often, and create turnovers.
Edwardsburg’s season is similar to that of 2018. The Eddies are currently on a 16 game winning streak after beating Dowagiac in the opener, 46-8, and then traveling to Otsego to beat the Bulldogs 48-0. The Eddies will need to continue to control the line of scrimmage and execute their assignments in order to see a win Friday evening.
The Eddies are 4-0 against Sturgis. In the last regular-season game of 2018 Edwardsburg traveled to Sturgis and beat the Trojans in a cold rain, 56-0. Sturgis needs to keep their winning ways going in order to make the playoffs this season. That would be something they haven’t done since 2015 when they lost in the Pre-Districts to St. Joseph.
Mike and Chris will be live for the call on JoeInsider.com starting at 6:40 pm on Friday evening.
