For the third year in a row, the Lady Eddies are in the District Championship match and if history repeats itself, The Eddies should be hoisting up another district trophy.
The Eddies will face Buchanan this Saturday morning at 10:00 am. Early morning matches are usually reserved for pool play at large tourneys, but this is down to two teams and winner takes all. The Eddies and Buchanan have a storied rivalry with lopsided outcomes. The Bucks haven’t dominated the Eddies since 2016. Since then, the Eddies have dominated all matches without question. Adding another component to this rivalry is the transfer of Junior setter Emma Strefling who left the Buchanan program to become the starting setter of the Eddies a year later. The move has paid off as the Eddies are again looking to get back to the Regional Championship match for the third year in a row as well.
In the Semi-Finals match, Seniors Jocelyn Hack (17 Kills) and Skyelar Burlingham (8 kills) wasted little time in taking down the Niles Vikings this last Wednesday in a 3 set victory that didn’t even take an hour to complete. When the Eddies are able to set into the game plan, few can stop their attack with setter Emma Strefling (30 assists/10 digs) directing traffic and their staunch defense keeping opponents scoring low. Eddies have experienced seniors and a very strong stable of talented Juniors, and for this team, a date with destiny seems eminent.
First serve is up at 10:00 am at Buchanan High School Gymnasium.
JoeInsider will bring the action live on the Cass County Broadcasts MIXLR player.
