Listen live Friday evening via JoeInsider.com as Kalamazoo United hosts Constantine for week eight of the high school football season.
Both teams have already clinched playoff spots and are now fighting for positioning within the SAC Lakeshore division and for potential home postseason games. Kalamazoo United is 7-0 overall and even with Schoolcraft for the top spot in the Lakeshore at 3-0. Constantine sits at 6-1 overall with a 2-1 mark in the division.
The Titans are the only team in the state through seven weeks with more than 400 points scored, with 417 total for an average of 59.6. They are coming off their most competitive game of the season with a 29-12 win against Delton Kellogg last week. United’s defense has quietly dominated as well, allowing 9.3 per game. A win against Constantine would match the highest win total achieved by the Titan co-op.
The Falcons bounced back from their lone loss in week six to Schoolcraft with their highest offensive output last week, outracing Watervliet 69-32. Constantine has scored an even 50 points per game while allowing 21 per contest. The win over the Panthers guaranteed Constantine their 27th winning season over the last 28 years.
Friday’s game will be the fifth meeting between the Hackett Catholic/Kalamazoo Christian co-op and Constantine. The Falcons won their first two battles in 2014 (40-14) and 2015 (56-15), followed by Titan wins in 2016 (62-57) and 2017 (32-30).
