It’ll be a repeat of last years district championship game as the Edwardsburg Eddies (22-0) face the Three Rivers Wildcats (16-5) Friday at Three Rivers. Last season the Eddies took home the crown by beating the Wildcats 44-28.
During the season these teams played each other twice with the Eddies winning both of them. Edwardsburg won 54-30 back on December 15, and again 43-29 on January 26.
Hadley Miler is having a heck of a year for Three Rivers as the junior has tallied more than 1,000 points in her career, including a school-record 42 against Dowagiac in the district opener. The Wildcats would go on to win the game 60-33. They would move on to play 5-12 Paw Paw and eventually pull out a 61-38 victory.
Edwardsburg is led by senior guard, Kaitlynn Zarycki. Zarycki is only 14 points away from being the all-time leading scorer in Edwardsburg basketball history. She would be surpassing boys program record holder Josh Kozinski for that honor. Zarycki put up 20 points in the 42 point win over Niles on Monday night, and she had 19 more during the Eddies 61-28 dismantling of Vicksburg.
This has become a great rivalry in the Wolverine Conference, and on Friday night it could become even better. Winner is declared the district champion and moves on to the regional round, while the loser heads home.
Opening tip is set for 7pm, but be sure to tune in for the pre-game starting at 6:50 p.m. on JoeInsider.com.
