Listen live online Monday via JoeInsider.com to the Regional 20 semifinals from Bronson High School. Up first at 5:30 p.m. ET, Centreville faces Delton Kellogg. Game two around 7 p.m. has Kalamazoo Christian against Niles Brandywine.
Of the four teams, only Brandywine returns from last season’s regional, falling in the championship to Schoolcraft. Centreville had the longest drought, playing in their first regional since 1998. It’s Kalamazoo Christian’s first berth since 2011 and since 2013 for Delton Kellogg.
The Bulldogs are the lone unbeaten team in the group at 22-0. Centreville has won all but two games by double-digits and have the best points-per-game average of the region at 55.3. The Bulldogs beat Southwest 10 Conference foes Marcellus (49-21) and White Pigeon (36-22) to open their district, followed by a finals win against Constantine (61-48).
The Panthers have an 18-5 record, grabbing district victories over Union City (64-40), Galesburg-Augusta (54-36), and Bronson (37-36). Delton Kellogg finished second at 8-4 within the tough SAC Valley division. Centreville fared better against their mutual opponents, with the Bulldogs flattening Bronson in their debut and getting a tight win over Schoolcraft, who the Panthers fell to twice.
Tied for third at 7-5 in the SAC Valley was Kalamazoo Christian, who split their meetings with DK. The Comets are 15-6 overall after a 42-38 district championship win over SAC Lakeshore champ and previously unbeaten Gobles. Before that, K-Christian downed Lawton (52-21) and Hackett Catholic (44-23).
Brandywine has a 21-2 record, dominating their district against Eau Claire (60-6), Hartford (55-25), and Watervliet (56-19). The only team to defeat the Bobcats this season was BCS Red foe Comstock, as the Colts dominated at home 58-31 in December, followed by a much tighter 41-35 February rematch in Niles. One of their few mutual opponents with K-Christian was Comstock, whom the Comets topped 48-38 in January.
You can listen to both games live via JoeInsider.com Monday from Bronson. Centreville/DK is set for 5:30 p.m., followed by K-Christian/Brandywine around 7 p.m., although it may begin a bit later. There will be a sign-off between games with pregame for both starting about five minutes before tip.
