The Sturgis boys swimming and diving team won four events at Otsego Tuesday but lost the dual meet 111-74.
Nathan Stemen clocked in at one minute, 59.54 seconds to take first place in the 200-yard freestyle, Hunter Stanke won the 100 butterfly in 1:00.27 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.32, and Brandon Jones claimed a victory in the 200 free (1:36.93).
“Despite the loss I was very happy with the way the boys swam tonight,” Trojans coach Andy Feyes said. “For the second meet in a row we had some really good time drops and had quite a few personal best times.”
Stemen’s performance in the 200 free was a season best and Michael Maynard, who finished sixth in that event (2:09.03) turned in a career best.
Stanke’s time in the 100 fly was his all-time fastest, so were Gabe Kruszka’s 1:01.76 in the 100 free (sixth) and Jonathan Sholl’s 1:04.77 (sixth) in the same race.
Sturgis is idle until Jan. 7 when it takes on the Kalamazoo Hackett Catholic Central/Mattawan cooperative.
