Colon responded with a first-quarter touchdown but that’s all the Magi had in the offensive tank in a 20-8 loss at North Adams-Jerome Friday.
Chris Thomsen hit Tyler Gruggs for a 39-yard touchdown in the first quarter for the Rams (3-4) to put the home squad temporarily out front. Colon’s Daniel Alva rushed from a yard out and Tyler Schipper caught the 2-point conversion toss from Alva for an 8-7 Magi advantage a couple minutes later.
But Josh Cramer, who rushed 21 times for 83 yards, bullied his way over the goal line on a one-yard run late in the second quarter to give North Adams-Jerome the lead for good.
Branden Tomlins rushed five times for 40 yards, Bailey Tyler added 20 yards on five takes and Alva finished with 43 yards on 14 carries for Colon.
Ramsey Potter led the Magi with seven tackles and Gabe Keely registered six stops and an interception.
