The top-ranked volleyball team in Class C powered through visiting Galesburg-Augusta Thursday night and Mendon made the Rams pay at the net. The Hornets breezed to a 25-9, 25-16, 25-15 victory.
“We played well, especially in the first game,” Mendon coach Kathy Trenary said. “They ran a single block on our middle and that’s fun to see our middles hit on a single block. Serving kept them at bay and in the third game we didn’t play as well. But all in all it was a good match for us tonight.”
Jordan VanOss collected seven kills, two aces, six assists and two blocks, Alexis Russell smacked 13 kills, had three blocks and 11 digs, Loryn Baughman registered 32 assists and nine digs and Brooke Howard finished with 12 kills, three blocks and nine digs.
Mendon plays in the Coloma tournament Saturday.
