Mendon’s boys basketball team won its second straight game after Monday’s 68-57 home victory over Athens.
The Hornets buried six 3-pointers to move to 3-2 overall this year, with Zach Darmofal dumping in a game-high 23 points on 10-for-17 shooting to lead the charge. Joe Gales followed with 15 points, Parker Cupp had nine and Kyle Wiswell finished with eight.
Mendon shot 45.2 percent (28-for-62) from the field and 40 percent behind the arc. Erik Batten contributed seven points and a team-high seven rebounds, and Jordan Medich chipped in four points. Darmofal also had five assists and five rebounds, Cupp grabbed five boards, Gales had six and Wiswell secured six.
After a 16-7 lead, Mendon widened the gap in the third quarter by outscoring Athens 17-10. The Indians slipped to 2-4 overall after the defeat.
