The Mendon boys basketball team welcomed Class B honorable mention Buchanan to town Saturday and then beat the Bucks without mercy.
With 43 points in the second half, the Hornets ran way with a 65-48 victory to improve to 9-2 overall.
Joe Gales led Mendon with 25 points and eight rebounds, and Zach Darmofal followed with 19 points. Parker Cupp totaled seven points, Erik Batten chipped in six, and Marcus Craft and Jordan Medich each finished with four.
Craft also had four assists and Gales ended the night with three steals.
The Hornets finished the game 20-for-25 at the foul line.
“What a great win for our guys,” Mendon coach Dave Swanwick said. “Joe Gales was a monster for us again in back-to-back games. We struggled a bit in the second [quarter], but we made some mental adjustments at halftime and got some good run-outs in.”
Doug Freeman led Buchanan with 13 points, and Kevin Dey added 12.
