The Sturgis duo of Nikki Nelson and Rachel Anderson wore Loy Norrix down Monday in a 39-37 road win.
Nelson made 7 of 12 field goal attempts for 14 points to go with 16 rebounds, and Anderson recorded 11 points and nine rebounds for the Trojans, which moved to 4-9 overall and 3-6 in Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference play.
Sturgis secured 32 rebounds, shot 12-of-23 from the foul line, committed 23 turnovers and finished 13-of-32 (40.6 percent) from the field. The Knights had 25 boards, were 3-of-11 from the stripe, committed 16 turnovers and shot just 26.5 percent for the game.
“Good team win tonight,” Sturgis coach Amie Burger said. “We had a lot of girls contribute on both ends of the court.”
Marissa Parker finished with six points and three rebounds, Anderson had two steals, two assists and a block, Kayla Nichols pitched in an assit and three boards and Gretchen Inman collected two points, two assists and two rebounds, and Jessica Cline left Kalamazoo with two steals, an assist and a rebound.
