An unkind second half was White Pigeon’s undoing in a 45-24 loss to Decatur Wednesday in the Class C district semifinals at Lawton.
Hanging in there down only 21-18 at halftime, the Chiefs were roughed up by the Raiders over the next 16 minutes to finish the season 9-11.
“We played a great game tonight,” White Pigeon coach Jeff Baechler said. “We just got beat by a better team. I am so proud of my girls and the way they played.”
Bethany Hagner led White Pigeon with eight points. Sydney Harmon finished with six, Haley Miller tossed in four, and Rachel Brock, Skyler DeMeyer and Riley Phelps each had two. Hagner also led the tea with four steals and three blocks.
Decatur improved to 17-4 and plays Schoolcraft Friday in the championship.
