The wheels started to fall off for Constantine’s boys basketball team in the second quarter and it couldn’t recover in a 68-44 loss to Schoolcraft.
Schoolcraft remains atop the Kalamazoo Valley Association standings with a 14-3 conference record. Constantine dropped to 0-17 overall and 0-16 in the KVA.
Joey Steiner and Perry White both scored 13 points for the Falcons, which were down four points entering the second stanza before the Eagles went on a 16-2 run to close the first half.
Anthony Bontrager added nine points, Luhk Mullendore scored six and Eli Beegle posted three. Cody Ley and Jon Doering failed to score but grabbed five rebounds apiece to lead the squad. Steiner and White notched three and two assists, respectively.
“Schoolcraft’s team defense was outstanding tonight, especially in the post,” Constantine coach Chuck Frisbie said. “After responding initially pretty well to their pressure, we were 1-for-13 shooting in the second quarter with too many turnovers, and that was the ballgame.”
