The Kalamazoo Eagles topped Kalamazoo United 6-1 Wednesday evening, giving the Eagles a 2-0 start to SCHSHL South Division play.
Each Eagle goal came from a different player. First period scores were by Gull Lake’s Colby Skinner and Garret Hoard, plus Plainwell’s Alex Johnson. In the second, it was Trojan Justin LaGrow and Pennfield’s Conner Greger. Harper Creek’s Adam Ratliff had his team’s lone third period goal.
The final goal of the night was KU’s via Kalamazoo Central’s Jack Kirschensteiner. Loy Norrix’s Parker Remelius had a valiant effort in goal, unofficially stopping 47 shots. GL’s Cody Rhodes turned away 17 in victory for the Eagles.
United moves to 0-1-2 with the defeat and 0-1 to start division play. KU is back at Wings West next Wednesday against Portage Central, which can be heard live via JoeInsider.com.
