The Kalamazoo College soccer teams hosted a doubleheader at MacKenzie Field Saturday afternoon with the Hornet men defeating Manchester University 1-0 and the women playing to a scoreless draw against the College of Wooster.
In the women’s contest, neither side could score after 110 minutes thanks to solid goalkeeping on both sides. Kalamazoo’s Hannah Wolfe made 11 saves with eight from Wooster’s Molly Hutter. The Hornets move to 4-2-1 after the draw, meanwhile Wooster stays unbeaten at 3-0-3.
In the men’s game, the lone goal came for the Hornets in the 42nd minute as Portage Northern alum Collin Sweet scored with an assist by Jack Didato. Kalamazoo held Manchester to only four shots on goal with Luke Kastran stopping each for the clean sheet. The win moves the Hornet men to 2-4 overall and drops Manchester to 2-3.
The Kalamazoo men are back at home Tuesday at 5 p.m. ET against Michigan-Dearborn. The women will host Manchester Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. ET.
