Three Rivers saw history in their 82-56 home boys basketball win Tuesday against Berrien Springs. Junior center Isaiah Moore set a school record with 29 rebounds, surpassing Tom Miholer’s mark of 25 that had stood since 1968.
The 29 rebounds puts Moore in rare company statewide, as the MHSAA record book only has 27 instances listed of a boys basketball player getting 30 or more in a game. The Wildcats also set a school record with 62 team rebounds.
“We fell behind early 0-4, but then went on a 20-5 run to finish the first quarter,” said TR head coach Brian Burg. “I felt we played okay on the defense side of the ball in the first half. Our second half of defense and finishing around the rim helped us to get this win tonight.”
Parker Ellifritz also had a huge game for the Wildcats, scoring 35 of their 82 points. The win puts Three Rivers at 3-2 overall. They’ll return home next Tuesday against Allegan.
Berrien Springs drops to 2-3 and also is off until Tuesday when they’ll host Constantine.
