Down five points heading into the fourth quarter, Constantine’s girls basketball team couldn’t get any closer Tuesday in a 43-31 loss at Hackett Catholic Central.
“Bot teas played tough,” said Falcons coach Joe Stacey, whose squad fell to 2-10 overall and 1-9 in the Kalamazoo Valley Association. “We simply missed several layups/shots right next to the basket. When you get that close, you have to convert those opportunities.
“We didn’t and they did. They crashed the offensive boards very aggressively and we didn’t sustain our box-outs.”
Bailey Potter led Constantine with seven points, Kerrigan Harris, DeShea Payton and Ashley Loose each had six, Michelle Smith finished with four and Amber Andersen had two for the Falcons, which were 0-for-6 from the foul line.
Payton grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds and had four assists, while Smith posted four steals.
