Glen Oaks basketball had big games Saturday at Kalamazoo Valley. The Viking women earned a huge 65-61 to take sole possession of first in the MCCAA Western Conference. Meanwhile, the GOCC men fell in a close 87-80 game, keeping the #16 Cougars atop the conference standings.
In the women’s game, Hannah Outlaw led Glen Oaks with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Eliana Wilson scored 15 with 10 rebounds and Angel Gary posted 13 points. Abigail Long was the Cougars leader with 13 points and nine rebounds. Hannah Vallier scored 11 and Carly Boughton had 10.
Glen Oaks moves to 12-9 overall and KVCC falls to 11-7. In the Western Conference standings, the Vikings lead at 6-0 with the Cougars second at 5-1.

In the men’s game, five players scored double-digits in the defeat for GOCC, led by 15 points and 13 rebounds by Daivion Boleware. Caleb Byrd scored 15, Malik Tansmore 14, DeAndre Francis 12, and Antonio Belton 12. For Kalamazoo Valey, Tavaz Showers had 32 points off the bench, including seven three-pointers. Myles Johnson scored 18 points and Ramere Draper had 17.

Kalamazoo Valley leads the Western Conference standings at 6-0 and are 18-3 overall. The Vikings sit in a three-way tie for third at 3-3 and 9-12 overall.
Conference play continues Wednesday as Glen Oaks makes the trip to Lansing and Kalamazoo Valley hosts Lake Michigan.
